Animals that have Visited the Banding Area

An eastern comma butterfly (Rick)
tussuk moth caterpillar  Bev.
Deer Mouse.  They and their cousin the White-footed mice steal our Kleenex tissues and so we have to put them away.  They use them for nests.
Coypo or Neutria  South American beaver like rodent seen beside the road to the banding station.
Wesley the Short Tailed Weasle not a friendly fellow to the birds
This is Mother a Red Squirrel, one of many getting fat on our sunflowers.
The deer are not too afraid of us although when startled they tend to go right through a net.
We have quite a few young Cottontails.  Predation does not seem a problem for them.
Skunk- this is not one of ours.  When met on net lanes we tend to back up and give them the right of way.
Raccoon- When I operated the J-trap one would meet me as I left after banding.  He knew where the seed was.  Even tin on the seed pole has not stopped them.
Mink- I have nothing good to say about them. If they find a net with birds it is a disaster.
Chipmunk- Not as common as before. Another bird seed eater.
Gray Squirrel:  We have them in Black, Silver tailed and Gray.  Ours walk on the ground through the bushes to get our seed.
Spider:  I love the webs in the dew.  Some are not as fond of them as I am.
Dragonflies- We really try to get them out of the nets unhurt.
