Rock Point Bird Banding Station      Haldimand Bird Observatory

Volunteer Opportunities and Accommodation
One of the mandates that Rock Point Banding Station takes on is to educate those who wish to learn the skills necessary to go on and do bird banding on their own.  No matter who comes to volunteer we are willing to pass on and share knowledge about birds and banding.  Each station has a uneque way of doing some things and each station also shares a common way of doing things.  People coming to Rock Point often have some technique or method which we are willing to incorporate into our methods.  At the same time we have some methods of doing things which we have found to be expediant.  Individuals may wish to learn these methods or, as long as it is deemed safe, they may continue using the methods that they are most comfortable using.
Being an organization which is voluntary we do not have money for wages or stipends.  The advantage for many who volunteer is that it gives them field work which they may use on a reference or vita.  I also have given references for people who have volunteered at the station.
Thanks to a grant from Ontario Trillium Fund and Niagara Trailer we can offer shared accommodations in the park. Below are some pictures of the trailer that we will be using.   Volunteers staying for at least a month will have these accommodations without charge.  Anyone staying for less than a month will be charged $20.00 a day or $100.00 per week.  Tent/trailer sites are also available within the park.  Daily rates are whatever is current for Ontario Provincial Parks.
